Exact origins unknown, Haflings, or Haflingers, were bred in Italy and Austria. Reared in mountainous regions, this breed worked in forestry, agriculture and transportation.
Today, these horses are popular at under-saddle events, as mounts for adults, at dressage, and at many other competitions.
Between thirteen and fifteen hands high, they exhibit balanced and controlled energy in all of their movements. As the most attractive and adjustable breed in Europe, Haflings are a successful combination of other breeds.
