As social animals, lions live in groups called “prides” across Africa and Asia that follow a strong hierarchy, lead by one dominant male. Females are responsible for hunting and instructing young cubs, giving birth to up to six cubs at a time. As excellent predators, they attain speeds of 36 miles per hour (58 km/h) over short distances.
