Benvingut a Spinosaurus aegyptiacus d’edició limitada!

Aquest extraordinari dinosaure va viure de fa 110 a 97 milions d’anys en el que avui és el nord d’Àfrica. El Aegiptiacus Spinosaurus és el terópodo més gran conegut fins a la data, també és el carnívor terrestre més gran registrat!

Els primers ossos de Spinosaurus aegyptiacus van ser desenterrats a principis de segle XX (el 1912) per una expedició paleontològica alemanya. Gran part de el coneixement sobre aquest dinosaure es basa en aquest descobriment inicial. No obstant això, estudis recents han permès aclarir la seva anatomia i forma de vida. De fet, seria l’únic terópodo que va poder adaptar-se a una vida semiaquàtica, ja que podria combinar la pesca i la caça, a l’igual que l’ós grizzly d’avui.

El model Papo d’edició limitada mostra totes les seves característiques específiques. El seu físic, semblant a el d’un cocodril, és particularment rabassut. Aegiptiacus Spinosaurus mesurava entre 16 i 18 metres per un pes de 11 tones. Els ossos molt densos dels seus membres inferiors li impedien surar i li permetien redreçar a l’aigua. Utilitzava la part superior del seu cos per caçar la seva presa. Aegiptiacus Spinosaurus tenia una cresta nasal que dominava els seus ulls i fosses nasals externes a prop dels ulls.

La seva boca, oberta sobre molts dents rectes i cònics, era llarga i estreta com la d’un cocodril. Això ens ajuda a confirmar que era parcialment piscívoro i que també podia alimentar-se de dinosaures joves!

El misteri que envolta la seva enorme columna vertebral encara està en debat i continua dividint els científics de tot el món. Fins 160 cm d’alçada, Aegipticus Spinosaurus estava cobert amb un vel de pell que, alguns creuen que actuava com a regulador tèrmic, mentre que altres creuen que sostenia una gran gepa muscular, similar al que observem en Bison.
