Paris és un joc que es desenvolupa a la fi de segle XIX a París durant l’Exposició Universal de 1889, o fira mundial, quan l’electricitat pública era un tema candent. L’electricitat es va estendre per tota la ciutat, creant belles carrers nocturns parisenques i encunyant el sobrenom de París "La Cité de la Lumière", la ciutat de les llums.

Els transeünts admiren més els edificis millor il·luminats. A la primera fase, els jugadors poden col·locar fitxes o augmentar la seva reserva d’edificis. Les fitxes de llambordes es divideixen en 4 espais aleatoris (el seu color, el color dels seus oponents, un fanal o un espai de colors barrejats on qualsevol dels jugadors pot construir).

Després, en la segona fase, els jugadors construeixen sobre el seu color o els espais mixtes, en un esforç per col·locar els seus edificis el més a prop possible de la major quantitat de fanals. Més fanals sol·liciten més adoració i punts. El jugador amb els millors edificis il·luminats roba els cors dels vianants parisencs i guanya el joc.
